The Amherst Human Rights Commission 11th Annual Youth Heroes Awards and Annual Potluck Picnic will take place on June 14th from noon to 2pm. Area students are recognized for demonstrated acts of kindness, unselfishness, social courage and/or community service. The ARHS students chosen to receive the 2015 Human Rights Youth Heroes Award include: Noreen Swan, Sajo Jefferson, Larenz Harris, Shekenah Rocke and Liam Brodigan. ( This is also the very first Race Amity Day in Amherst.) The Community is encouraged to attend the ceremony and to bring a dish to share at the picnic.
