Dear ARHS students & families:
Are you a heritage speaker of Mandarin? Can you speak or understand Mandarin? Can you read or write in Mandarin? If so, we invite you and your family to join us at the high school on Tuesday, April 4 at 7 pm to learn more about the expanding Chinese offerings at ARHS. In 2017-2018, the ARHS World Language department will be offering a new course, Chinese Literature and Culture. The curriculum is currently in development, and we are seeking input from students and families about the content of the course.
This evening event will include:
- an introduction of our Chinese language teacher, Ms. Yiping Yan;
- a first look at plans for the proposed course and an opportunity to provide input on the content;
- an opportunity for Chinese language students to speak Chinese with with Ms. Yan;
- and an opportunity for ARHS to gather information about previous Chinese language instruction from prospective students.
RSVP to Ericka Alschuler at alschule@arps.org by 3 pm on April 4. You can also contact Ericka at 362-1781 with questions about the event.
We hope to see you then!
Ericka Alschuler (Assistant Principal), Yiping Yan (Chinese teacher), and Sean Smith (World Language Department Head)
