The 7th Annual Francophone Night was a success. Merci!

The 7th Annual French Night is over! With over 300 guests, this was ARHS’s most-attended French Night ever. The French Club raised over $1,500 from at-the-door sales alone, which will be put towards an end-of-year field trip.

Thank you, everyone, for attending and making this a special night for all of us. Merci!

The support provided by a PGO grant ensured that ticket prices remained accessible for families.

Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Ninety-four years after his birth on Jan. 15, 1929, and nearly 60 years after his historic “I Have a Dream” speech, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s stirring words and writings remain as relevant and inspiring today as they were when he lived.

Seniors, as you honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. for the last time in High School, strive for understanding, empathy, and unity. Be the generation that transcends barriers, fosters dialogue, and builds bridges. Embrace diversity, embody compassion, and contribute to a world where differences are celebrated, not divided.

Superintendent Search Committee opportunity

The Regional and Union 26 School Committees (“the joint committees”) are embarking on a search process for a permanent superintendent. A key part of the process is a 20-member Search Committee which will be composed of parents/guardians, community members, ARPS employees and bargaining unit members, ARHS students, and School Committee members.
The Search Committee will review all applicants for the position, select candidates to interview, conduct interviews with those candidates, and decide on a number of finalists to recommend to the joint committees. The joint committees have the ultimate decision-making authority for the superintendent position.

Message from the Principal: School Site Council at ARHS

We are in the process of starting a School Site Council (SSC) at ARMS & ARHS. The SSC’s main focus will be working on the School Improvement Plan (SIP). We will be meeting once a month for an hour, the day and time will be determined after the SSC is formed. The SSC will have between 9-12 members. There will be 3-4 representatives from three categories: ARHS personnel, parents of ARHS students and community members, and ARHS students. The ARHS PGO will be organizing the election for the parent and community representatives, and I will be organizing the election of the ARHS adults and students.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in joining the SSC. Because of the number of people who have expressed interest in joining the SSC, there will need to be an election. As part of the election process, I am asking that everyone interested in being on the SSC write a two or three-sentence answer to ‘Why do you want to be on the School Site Council?’ That answer will be part of the ballot which will be distributed by the ARMS & ARHS PGOs. Thanks again for your interest in being on the SSC.

Information about the School Site Council:
SSC Q & A
General Law

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Editor’s Note: If you are interested in serving as a parent/guardian or community member, please send your 2-3 sentence response to the prompt to arhspgonews@gmail.com

Local Indigenous artist Justin Beatty visited ARHS for Indigenous People’s Month

On November 29th, Marita Banda hosted local Indigenous artists and activist Justin Beatty for Indigenous People’s Month. The PGO provided partial support for this event. Everyone had a great time immersing themselves in the captivating world of his art. Beatty’s engaging presentation not only showcased his artistic prowess but also offered valuable insights into his life and creative process. The atmosphere was vibrant, and attendees thoroughly enjoyed what he had to say. After the talk, numerous students eagerly approached Beatty, posing thoughtful questions about his journey, adding a personal touch to the experience.

It was a great event all around, leaving attendees inspired and fostering a meaningful connection between the artist and his student audience.
