Schools Closed Until At Least May 4, 2020

Dear ARPS Community:

On Thursday, Governor Charlie Baker announced that all schools in Massachusetts will remain closed until at least May 4, 2020.  This is a substantial extension over the closure that was previously announced, based on the concern about the increasing spread of COVID-19 across the Commonwealth.

This extension raises questions about how distance learning will evolve given the longer period of closure.  Jeffrey Riley, Commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, stated that he will be sending guidelines on this topic to districts tomorrow, and he has also scheduled a conference call with Superintendents on Friday, March 27th, where he will discuss the statewide plan for this extended closure period. I will continue to share more information as it becomes available.

I appreciate everyone’s patience as the district navigates this unprecedented situation.

Sincerely,

Michael Morris, Superintendent
