Overview of Metrics for September 2020
✓ Fewer than 70 New Cases per 100,000 people (over seven day period in Hampshire/Franklin Counties*)
✓ Less than 3% Percent Positive Testing rate (14 day overall combined average in all towns in Hampshire/Franklin Counties)
Both metrics must remain below these limits for in-person schooling to proceed as proposed. ARPS is using the most conservative metrics being recommended and/or implemented.
*Calculated with weighting of 0.7 for Hampshire County and 0.3 for Franklin County based on relative populations
Phasing
Same Metrics would apply to increasing the number of students and staff in schools with moving to the next phase, with one additional metric to assess trends:
✓ Fewer than 70 New Cases per 100,000 people (over seven day period in Hampshire/Franklin Counties*)
✓ Less than 3% Positive Testing rate (14 day overall combined average in Hampshire/Franklin Counties) ✓ Less than 33% increase from prior weeks’ data on both metrics (even if results are still below the cut-off)

Safety Metrics: Guidance
● New York State: 5% positive testing rate in region (14 day average). Schools will close if regional infection rate is greater than 9% (7 day average)
● Centers for Disease Control: 5% positive testing rate in region (14 day average)
● World Health Organization: 5% positive testing rate in region (14 day average)
● New York City: 3% positive testing rate in city (14 day average)
● Harvard Global Health Institute: 3% positive testing rate in the area; 1-10 new cases daily per 100,000 people (7-70 new cases per week per 100,000 people)
● Connecticut: fewer than 10 new cases daily per 100,000 people (less than 70 new cases weekly per 100,000 people)
● Cambridge, MA: (need 2 of 3 to open): 5% positive rate + less than 25 cases per day (less than 150 new cases per week) per 100,000 people + Sewage Wastewater Monitoring (less than 100 RNA/ml)
