Congratulations to Helen Dalton, ARHS junior, for being awarded the ‘Best in Category Award’ for Editorial Cartoon sponsored by the Herb Block Foundation in the Region of Massachusetts. Helen’s work was judged best in the state after receiving a Gold Key from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. In addition to a $200 cash prize, Helen’s editorial cartoon will be advanced for national recognition as the Massachusetts entry for the Herb Block Award. Helen completed the cartoon as an assignment on Black Lives Matter for her remote learning ‘Art of Comics’ class. Herb Block was one of America’s foremost political cartoonists. His foundation “seeks to help ensure a responsible, responsive democratic government through citizen involvement,”.
