We have some updates about how the trip to Senegal and The Gambian is going for our six ARHS students, Dean of Students Mary Custard, and two retired ARHS teachers Momodou Sarr & Bruce Penniman. Some of the highlights include: visiting the villages where Alex Haley’s ancestors were from and Kunta Kinteh Island, Fort Bullen which was an anti-slavery stronghold, a pre-school, middle school and 2 high schools, and a wonderful women’s farm where 200 women are working together to produce enough tomatoes and onions to halt Gambian imports of those two vegetables. They are all having some amazing and life changing experiences on their trip to Africa.
I hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing break. Please unplug for a while and get outside!
