New Book Club to Focus on Diversity

imagesRecently a group of personnel, parents, and students met as a book club for several weeks to read and discuss two books by a local author, Cammie McGovern.  They read Say What You Will and A Step Toward Falling.  Both books are stories about youngsters with disabilities and their experiences with their peers.
The book club participants have decided that they would like to continue with a book club meeting once a month.  The plan at this time is to read Cammie’s newest book, Just My Luck, and to meet on Thursday, April 7th, from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in the Middle School library to discuss the book.  The intention is for the book club participants to decide at that time about the next book they would like to read and to meet the first Thursday of each month for discussion. After each month’s title is announced, you may purchase the book on your own or check with your school or public librarian to find out if a copy is available for you to borrow.

Currently, the group is interested in selecting and discussing books that center on the topic of diversity.  Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. Email Wendy Bloomenthal, bloomenthalw@arps.org, if you are interested in participating.
